Melanie Shankle

My name is Melanie and, in some strange twist of fate, I’m also known as Big Mama because I started this blog in July of 2006 when my daughter, Caroline, was not quite three years old and I was in the process of convincing her that BIG girls use the potty and BIG girls don’t have pacifiers, thus she thought BIG was the highest compliment in the land and began referring to me as BIG MAMA.

Scholarship committee needs volunteers

We are looking for a few moms to serve on the core scholarship committee to help us frame this year's scholarship process. We will be updating the application, rubric, website and establishing a timeline for important events beginning in January. If you have an interest, please contact Stephanie Maday, Scholarship Chair, at ccamscholarships@aggienetwork.com.

All CCAM fundraising efforts go directly to fund Aggie student scholarships and student organizations on campus.

We will send out another request after the first of the year for volunteers to serve as readers of the applications.

Spring Fundraiser:

Golf Tourn. 2021

President-Elect Kathy Terzis needs everyone's help to make our spring golf tournament a HUGE success. We need sponsors! Big sponsors (over $900) and small sponsors ($100). If you know a business that is Aggie-owned, that you frequently go to in Collin County, or that you work at, they may be interested in sponsoring us. We don't know if we don't ask. If you can send her the business name and a contact, she'll be happy to reach out and ask. If everyone contacts three individuals or businesses, we will be well on to our goal. These businesses can be individuals, local Collin County businesses, or Aggie-owned businesses.

Please contact Kathy Terzis at ccamfundraiser@aggienetwork.com if you would like to help or join this committee.

Thanks and Gig 'Em!

Century tree sapling donated to Carly Beatty family

Sunday, Nov. 1, the Frisco family of Carlynn "Carly" Beatty '22 was presented with a two-year-old Century Tree sapling.

On Sept. 14, 2019, Carly, a sophomore at Texas A&M University in College Station, was hit by a drunk driver. She passed away from her injuries eight days later.

The Brazos County chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) and our club purchased the sapling from the Aggie Century Tree Project. The project grows saplings from acorns off the beloved campus Century Tree and funds endowed scholarships at Texas A&M.
