WHOOP! In-person general meeting scheduled for May 17

Our club's final general meeting for this school year will be held in person on Mon., May 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Dallas AgriLife Water Building located at 17360 Coit Road, Dallas.

In the past we held our meetings in the older building on the southern end of the AgriLife campus. This building is in the northern section. Enter at the light, and the building will be on the north side (left).

Come early at 6:30 p.m. to shop and socialize, or sign up for a committee, or learn about volunteer opportunities!

The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Graduate Recognition followed by Scholarship Recognition and finally the installation of the new board.

We are already planning for next year when we can gather and socialize a little bit more. There are still committee chair positions that we are looking to fill as well as President-Elect.

Come to our general meeting Monday, May 17, and visit with each committee to see where you want to plug in for next year.

Our Howdy Party has been set for July 24, Saturday morning. Mark your calendars now and volunteer to help welcome our new students and families. Looking forward to seeing and visiting with everyone Monday evening.

If you would like to purchase now and do curb pick up from the meeting should you not be able to attend the meeting, you may text us Monday evening and we will run your bag(s) out to your car. Scholarship Recipients

We received 110 applications--58 high school seniors and 52 current students. We were able to award 14 scholarships (seven seniors and seven current ones) in the amount of $1,000 each--$500 in the fall and $500 in the spring. The recipients and their parents are invited to our May general meeting to be recognized.

Kaesen Wortham ’22

Kaesen Wortham ‘22 is from Sachse and is pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering along with a minor in Engineering Project Management. Kaesen is a member of the Squadron 5 in the Corps of Cadets and this Fall he will be serving as Major Unit Chaplain for 3rd Wing. This Summer he will be working as an Intern at Texas Instruments and hopes to pursue a career in Project Management in his future.

Brooke Humphrey ’25

Brooke Humphrey will be a freshman at Texas A&M University in the fall. She plans to major in communications and digital media. At Texas A&M, Brooke hopes to be a part of freshman organizations, sorority, and Young Life. To pursue her professional career goal, she plans to apply as a student photographer at 12th man productions. After graduating from college, she hopes to become a professional sports creative with the NFL or NHL. She is so honored to have received the Collin County Aggie Moms Scholarship and is thankful for this organization.

Mark Thomson ’23

Howdy, y’all, my name is Mark Thomson, and I’m a member of the fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2023. I’m pursuing a degree in accounting at Mays Business School, and I was just accepted into the Professional Program in Accounting at the end of this semester, which will give me the opportunity to graduate simultaneously with my undergraduate degree in accounting and a Master’s degree in any of a number of different business disciplines. I’m very involved in the Methodist Student Center right next to campus, known as the Wesley Foundation, and was recently elected as the chair of the student council for this coming year. I love being able to spend time growing in my faith and participating in service projects at and through the Wesley Foundation, but I also love the community I have found and friends I have made there. When I’m not working on school or hanging out at Wesley, you can usually find me somewhere around town playing basketball or disc golf with friends. Thank you so much to everyone who helps make these scholarships possible. I am so honored to have been chosen as one of the recipients this year!

Brooklyn Ross ’25

I am a senior at McKinney High School and am so excited to be attending Texas A&M University this fall. I will be majoring in Zoology in the hopes of attending either veterinary or medical school. I am the first Aggie in my family and am looking forward to learning about all of the wonderful traditions at Texas A&M. Gig 'em, Aggies!

Bailey Kropp ’23

Howdy!! My name is Bailey Kropp and I am a Junior Meteorology major with a minor in Spanish from Plano. At A&M, I have been incredibly lucky to be a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, Aggie ACHIEVEmates, Sophomores Leading on Promoting Equality (SLOPE), and Fish Camp! These organizations as well as my pursuit of a degree in Meteorology have truly allowed me to make the most out of my first two years at this amazing university. After A&M, I aspire to go into meteorological research. I feel incredibly blessed to have been chosen as a recipient of this scholarship, and promise to take advantage of these following semesters like never before! Thank you, Collin County Aggie Moms!

Isabelle Smith ’25

Howdy! My name is Isabelle Smith and I am a graduating senior from Plano Senior High School. I am the class president and a dedicated member in the National Charity League as well as the FUMCR Youth Group. I am a four year varsity soccer player for Plano, and in my free time I enjoy the outdoors, sports, shopping with friends and Aggie Football! In the fall I plan to pursue a degree in Communications, along with a minor in Spanish. In addition, I would love to study abroad and join many organizations including a sorority or FLO. I am super excited to live in College Station and officially be an Aggie!

Hope Merriam ’23

Howdy! My name is Hope, and I’m a member of the fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2023 (A A A WHOOP)! Here in Aggieland, I’m pursuing a dual degree in Biomedical Sciences and Animal Science as well as a minor in Spanish; I’m currently applying to veterinary school in hopes of becoming a small or mixed animal veterinarian. I love spending time participating in my organizations, which include the Biomedical Sciences Association and Sigma Phi Lambda. I’m also a member of the Texas A&M Wind Symphony, and I conduct research in an animal genomics lab. Aside from these, I work as an ambassador for the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and I’m also a student worker in the Texas A&M Small Animal Hospital. In my free time, you can find me cheering on the Aggies in Kyle Field and hanging out with my friends at the best College Station coffee shops. I want to express my utmost gratitude to each and every one of the members of the Collin County Aggie Moms. I feel so blessed to have been chosen to receive this scholarship. Thanks and gig ‘em!

Duncan Harper ’25

Howdy! My name is Duncan Harper and I am currently a Senior at McKinney North High School. I come from a long, proud line of Aggies and I am the first member of my family to attend Texas A&M Galveston. I joined Scouts BSA as a Tiger Cub when I was in First Grade in 2010 and earned my Eagle Rank in July 2020. I have spent summers staffing local Scout leadership camps and am headed to Philmont in July to staff NAYLE (National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience.) I play the French horn, jazz trumpet and plan to continue playing music with the Sea Aggie Band in the Fall. At TAMUG I will be in the Maritime Corps of Cadets and I am majoring in marine engineering technology with a licensing option. Gig 'em!

Sarah Tipoff ’23

Howdy! My name is Sarah Tipoff, and I am a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2023. I was raised in Frisco and attended Centennial High School where I was on the Sweetheart Dance Team. Currently, I am majoring in Industrial Distribution and minoring in Business at Texas A&M University. Industrial Distribution is the perfect combination of engineering and business, and I have a passion for working with people and solving problems. I am involved in the Professional Association for Industrial Distribution, the Society of Women Engineers, and a Homegroup Bible Study with Fellowship Church BCS. In the future, I plan on pursuing a career in technical sales or supply chain management. In my free time, I like to cook, read, watch movies, and run around campus. The culture and tradition at Texas A&M are like no other, and I am so grateful to be a part of the Aggie Network.

Megan Gajdica ’25

Howdy! My Name is Megan Gajdica and I am currently a Senior at Community High School. I am a first-generation college student and plan to major in Animal Science on the Pre-Vet track and would like to specialize in Large Animal Veterinary Medicine, particularly bovine genetics. In High School, I have been an active member of the National Honor Society, FFA, Band, and Student Council. I have been an FFA chapter officer for three years and have shown Hereford and Polled Hereford beef heifers for four years, as well as a market steer my Senior year. My family owns and operates a small cattle business where we breed, raise, show, and sell registered Herefords and Polled Herefords. For the band, I have served multiple leadership roles, including Drum Major for this past year. I play the French Horn and have already auditioned for and made the TAMU Concert Band. Aggieland has been a dream of mine ever since I can remember and I cannot wait to get to College Station in the Fall. Gig ‘Em, Ags!

Anna DeMotte ’22

Howdy! My name is Anna DeMotte and I’m a Marine Biology/Marine Fisheries Double Degree student at Texas A&M Galveston. I’m a member of the class of 2022, and I’ve accomplished a LOT in my three years at Texas A&M so far. As a freshman, I landed an internship during my spring semester with an organization called “Turtle Island Restoration Network” where I led educational events at schools for children surrounding ocean conservation. Through my passion and networking skills, I was accepted into a prestigious research lab on campus at the beginning of my sophomore year as a research assistant, helping Ph.D. students in the field and laboratory with their research on shark biology and fisheries science. I’ve continued in this role, gaining invaluable hands-on experience with field work, sample preparation and processing, and professional development. I hope to conduct my own research project this upcoming year with the help of the principal investigator and one of the graduate students, investigating diet composition, ecological role, and trophic position of pregnant bonnethead sharks in several Texas bays. Due to the connections I made in my internship with Turtle Island Restoration Network, in the spring of my sophomore year I was selected to be a “stranded sea turtle responder” with the Gulf Center for Sea Turtle Research. My car has become the local sea turtle ambulance and has transported many sick or injured sea turtles in the Galveston area to local rehabilitation and medical care facilities. One of those facilities is Texas A&M’s new sea turtle hospital. The hospital opened in December of 2020 and I was hand-selected from the pool of responders to fill the inaugural internship position for the spring 2021 semester. My favorite part of that internship was my contribution to the largest cold-stunning event in history that occurred during the February freeze. Leading several other student volunteers, I helped rescue and rehabilitate over fifty hypothermic sea turtles from that catastrophic event. On the less hands-on side of things, I was also featured as a panelist speaker in December for the EarthX conference TV series called “Planet911 Youth Reports” where I joined Dr. Marshall from the Gulf Center for Sea Turtle Research and two other young sea turtle researchers to discuss turtle conservation, biodiversity, and my experiences as a young person in science. I also currently serve as the President of an on-campus organization called “Save Our Seas”, which promotes education about conservation issues through things like guest speaker events, crafts, and trivia nights, and conducts service projects throughout each semester like beach cleanups. Our biggest beach cleanup yet occurred in November of 2020 where over one hundred Texas A&M students joined forces to pick up almost 700 pounds of trash from a local beach in Galveston. I am thrilled to continue this work during my final year at Texas A&M, and greatly appreciate the support of the Collin County Aggie Moms Club to help me accomplish my goals and succeed in all my endeavors.

Emily Daugherty ’25

Emily is a Senior at Wakeland High School and is a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, ASL Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. She has also received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. She has participated in the National Charity League and is a youth leader at First United Methodist Church.

Emily has chosen to major in Education at Texas A&M and hopes to influence young students and make a difference in their lives just like her teachers did for her. In the near term, she plans on being 100% Aggie by participating in student teaching organizations, the Big Event, YoungLife, and absorbing the Aggie spirit. She intends on earning a Master’s in Education before she leaves College Station.

Emily is a second generation Aggie and has grown up with all Aggie traditions.

She is the daughter of Debbie '99 and Brad '98 & '00 Daugherty. Whoop!

Amanda Ngo ’22

My name is Amanda Ngo and I am currently pursuing a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, which I will be finishing up in December 2022. I'm also a candidate for the M.S. Finance program at Texas A&M through the STEM-to-Stocks accelerated admissions program and will be graduating in December 2023. On campus, I am extremely involved with the Society of Women Engineers and the Engineering Honors program. I will be interning with Air Products this summer as a Product Engineering Intern. In my free time, I enjoy taking walks and reading books.

Aiden Stickney ’25

Aiden Stickney was born and raised in McKinney and is graduating this May from McKinney Boyd High School. Throughout high school, Aiden was a proud member of the marching band while remaining in the top 5% of his high school class with a 4.794 GPA. Aiden has always had a love for math and science-related classes and had the opportunity to complete Calculus 3 and Physics 2 while still in high school. Upon graduation, Aiden will be attending Texas A&M University and plans to study Electrical Engineering. Eventually, Aiden hopes to pursue his doctoral degree and find a challenging and rewarding career that will utilize his expertise in this area.
